Welcome to the STORET website. We are constantly looking for
new ways to improve our site, with you in mind. Please take a look
and let us know what you think!
| The next IWR Run is scheduled for
March, 2009.
Data must be submitted to FDEP by March 1, 2009. |
NEW! - The STORET team would like to thank all data
providers for their hard work and diligence in submitting water
quality data for the December 1st IWR Run. Protecting Florida’s
waterbodies would not be possible without you and we value your
participation.
Thank you.
Important Announcement - As a
result of technical issues within the DEP network there is
currently a limit on the size of data sets that can be downloaded
through the SPA site. Please read the full announcement
under General Correspondence.
NEW! – The Storet Data Checker is currently undergoing
revisions that will improve its functionality. During this time,
the download for the “20 Elements Data Checker for STORET 2.0”
will be unavailable. A bulletin will be posted on this page when
the new and improved Data Checker becomes available but, in the
mean time, we encourage you to continue using your existing Data
Checker.
The department’s STORET Group welcomes you to our website. We
hope you find the website beneficial and our staff helpful.
The STORET Group, within the Division of Water Resources, helps
you meet the requirements of the IWR and EAS01-01. We create
custom applications, develop helpful tools and training, and
produce documents that will aid you along the way. The Group will
also work with you one-on-one to help you understand and create
the best method to submit your data to STORET. Our philosophy is
to provide this training in advance so that our data providers are
prepared for future data management tasks required by the
department’s TMDL Program.
STORET—an acronym for STORage and RETrieval database—is the
currently used database for the storage of biological, chemical,
and physical data for ground and surface waters. While the United
States Environmental Protection Agency designed STORET as a
national water quality database, Florida’s STORET database design
is dictated by a state regulation called the “Impaired Waters
Rule” (Chapter 62-303, Florida Administrative Code). Florida DEP
is in the process of developing an IWR-directed water quality data
exchange program that will be designed with constructive input
from our data providers. Our ultimate goal will be to ease the
process of data contribution and loading for all.
Your data contribution will be used to help the Department of
Environmental Protection better assess the waters of the basins in
your area. The data you and other agencies submit will be
available for browsing and downloading from FDEP’s STORET Web
Retrieval site. The rewards associated with data submission range
from Federal grants to watershed restoration and peace of mind.
Your data is needed and appreciated. Thank you. |
