
Acquisition Program
The Department of Environmental Protections’ Office
of Greenways and Trails Land Acquisition Program is a component of
Florida Forever. Florida Forever provides $300 million annually through
2010 to protect and improve environmental lands, water resources and
urban greenspace. The Greenways and Trails Land Acquisition Program
receives 1.5 percent ($4.5 million) of the Florida Forever annual
distribution.

How to Apply:
Prior to submitting an Application for Acquisition of Land, applicants
must apply for and receive a
Certificate of
Eligibility (pdf 144 kb).
Once you have received a Certificate of Eligibility, you may
submit an Application anytime during the Application Period
(February 18 - April 17, 2008).
Certificates of Eligibility can be submitted throughout the year

Regional Coordinators work with agencies, organizations and
citizens to plan and acquire projects that help establish
Florida's statewide network of greenways and trails. Should you
need assistance during the acquisition cycle, please contact the
regional
coordinator for your area or

A
Certificate
of Eligibility (pdf 144 kb) will be approved if the
applicant's proposed project meets the following criteria:
- project meets
statutory definition of greenway or trail
- the project is
located within or adjacent to an opportunity segment on the
Recreational Prioritization Maps.
- at least 80% of
project has a willing seller(s)
- project has a
willing manager
